Waldhausen’s story begins in 1836 when Anton Waldhausen, whose initials ”AWA” can still be found in the Waldhausen logo today, founded a saddler in Cologne.
In 1895 Waldhausen was the largest retailer for saddler and leather goods. Ernst Albrecht Assenmacher takes over the company management in 1961 until his retirement in 2007. He started expanding the company business. When Klaus Reinken joined the company management in 1995, followed by Michael Manefeld ten years later, Waldhausen had become one of the largest und leading retailers for the equestrian sport.
One of Waldhausen’s manyfold highlights throughout the years has been the company’s move to the up-to-date distribution centre and new company headquarters in Ossendorf, Cologne in 2000.
